Becker V1 MP Tennis Racquet Review
Tennis Magazine
SALES PITCH:
An extremely user-friendly stick that puts a premium on comfort.
COMPARE TO:
Völkl DNX V1
HOW IT TESTED:
One of the first racquets to be released under the new Boris Becker label is the venerable V1. Even with the new name and logo (the “Serveman,” which is modeled after Becker’s trademark knee bend on his serve) the racquet has many of the same qualities players have come to expect of its predecessor, most notably, a solid, forgiving response. It’s what made the original V1 so popular with players who suffer from arm pain. The racquet has vibration-dampening materials, called Sensor Plus, in the shaft and handle to lessen shock on impact. It works so effectively that one reviewer likened the comfort of playing with the mid-plus to “an old pair of shoes.” The V1 is a medium-weight racquet, and the head-light balance helps keep it maneuverable from all parts of the court. The extra length on the oversize gives the racquet a bit more pep—and some of the stray shots that go along with it. If you put a premium on control, try the mid-plus.
BOTTOM LINE:
It’s a great match for all-court club players with arm troubles or anyone who wants a comfortable and forgiving frame.
The Becker V1 has every imaginable feature and technology, making it iconic for playing comfort. The newest creation is the BECKER V1 and continues to set the standard in comfort. Features like the variable beam height (25-22-28mm), the MidPlus Head-size (660cm2), or the 4 regions of Big Grommets, in combination with DNX, pave the way for a new area in performance.
Using more DNX gives the BECKER V1 incredible power and stability. The comfort characteristics are taken to another level with the new SENSOR PLUS SHAFT DAMPENING System, eliminating early vibrations before they reach handle. In combination with the proven SENSOR PLUS HANDLE System, there’s no racquet in the tennis world that absorbs harmful vibrations better than the Becker V1.
