Aerogel 700 Tennis Racquet Review
Tennis Magazine
SALES PITCH:
A lightweight oversize that offers plenty of power without sacri? cing control.
COMPARE TO:
Dunlop 700G
HOW IT TESTED:
Although Dunlop is known more for its advanced-player racquets, like the 200 and 300 series, it may have a hit with the intermediate-level 7Hundred. It’s easy to swing, very comfortable, and packs plenty of pop without sacri?cing control. At just under 10 ounces, it’s certainly light, but the slightly head-heavy balance gives the frame some heft. Plus, by putting Aerogel, a nearly weightless but extremely strong material, throughout the frame, Dunlop is able to give the racquet some backbone without slowing down your swing. It’s a snap to pick up speed on your strokes, yet big cuts don’t cause you to mis? re. The racquet also has the new Vibrocore System inserted into the throat of the racquet, which acts as a shock absorber. Unless you’re so used to a vibration dampener that you can’t play without one, you really don’t need one with this frame, which is not typical of lightweight, game-improvement racquets.
BOTTOM LINE:
Players looking for controllable power in a very comfortable frame would be wise to test-drive this racquet.
The Aerogel
700 combines raw power and pure comfort, in a maneuverable racquet that features Vibracore technology to provide a comfortable and solid feel at impact. The
700 offers excellent pop and plenty of spin potential.
Vibracore Technology: Dramatically reduces frame vibrations. At ball impact, shock waves are absorbed into the shaft of the racquet into the silicone rubber core and are therefore not allowed to travel down to the handle. This significantly reduces the risk of tennis elbow and provides exceptional comfort.
Aerogel Technology: The world's lightest solid and has a strength of up to 4,000 its own weight. The three-dimensional nanometer-sized molecular network delivers an unmatched strength to weight ratio for enhanced stiffness and increased power. Combined with M-Fil (multi-filament) technology across the hitting zone to 'soften' ball impact, Aerogel frames deliver the perfect balance between power and control.
M-Fil Technology: A technology that incorporates a unique patented 3D braiding process. Carbon, S-fibre and magnesium are combined into the hitting zone of the racquet head to enhance the touch and feel of the racquet where and when you need it most - at the moment of ball contact.
