Fischer M Pro No. 1 No Tolerance Tennis Racquet (98) SL

Fischer M Pro Number 1 98 No-Tolerance Tennis Racquet (SL) Review

The updated Fischer M-Pro No. 1 98 is the choice of ATP touring pro Marcos Baghdatis. Baghdatis was earning a living on the pro tour with an earlier version of the M-Pro No. 1 before he became an international tennis celebrity with his run to the finals of the 2005 Australian Open.

The latest M-Pro No. 1 98 is still a very flexible and stable control racquet best suited for competitive players with above average skills. The aerospace AirCarbon frame and tapered profile seem especially effective for producing spin. Some intermediate play testers felt the M-Pro No. 1 98 worked particularly well for hitting slice approaches with more drive.

Even though the M-Pro No.1 98 is a players' frame that has the feel of a traditional players' frame, there is something uniquely appealing about they way it hits. We think it comes from Fischer's ongoing development of the tapered frame profile. The M-Pro No. 1 is thin and flexible at the throat, providing exceptional feel and comfort. The frame becomes progressively thicker, extending the top of the sweet spot and adding a modest amount of power.

This feature has been a hallmark of the M-Pro No.1 design dating back to the 90's versions that were used by former world #1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov. After years of R&D and product cycles, the latest M-Pro No.1 98 arrives with a distinctive spin friendly shot response that is rich with feedback and precision.

The standard M-Pro No. 1 (also known as the SL version or the Baghdatis version) hits with a weighty solid feel. There is also a lighter UL version which worked well for our intermediate play testers. For physically strong advanced players that prefer heavier feeling frames or anyone else who wants the tour set-up of the M-Pro No. 1, the standard (SL) version is the one to buy.

If you appreciate fit, finish, and manufacturing consistency, Fischer's industry leading No Tolerance Guarantee is ideal for serious players who want to have multiple racquets with identical playing characteristics.

Used by Marcos Baghdatis.
The M-Pro No.1 98 offers the perfect combination of power and playability in a Tournament frame. No Tolerance construction guarantees that every racket is 100% identical. An ideal racquet for advanced, all-court players. Magnetic Speed System gives the racket additional acceleration thanks to the repulsive power of unipolar magnets. Available in two weight classes.

MAGNETIC SPEED
With any racquet, when the ball hits the strings the racquet naturally deforms with the flanks of the racquet moving towards each other. Using Fischer’s unique Magnetic Speed System, unipolar magnets located in the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock positions of the frame repel one another, enabling the racquet to revert to its original shape faster. As a result, the tennis ball is propelled from the string bed at an accelerated pace.

Magnetic Speed Technology:
Normally, when the ball impacts the string bed the racquet frame bows in on both sides, temporarily deforming the racquet. Most frames regain their shape soon after the ball leaves the strings. With Magnetic Speed, the frame reverts back to its original shape faster, creating a catapult effect that generates more pace than with traditional frames. Unipolar magnets placed on opposite sides of the head repel each other, snapping the frame back into its original shape at a much faster rate. M-Speed Technology helps the player generate more power than could be generated from competitor frames while maintaining playability and feel.
