Prince More Control DB 850 Tennis Racquet

Tennis Magazine April 2003

The Prince More Control DB was reviewed like HBO's Sunday-night lineup--all raves. It features something old and something new, and together they make for a superb-feeling advanced-player racquet. The old: Double Bridge, a polymer first used in Prince racquets in 1988 that surrounds most of the main (up and down) strings at the bottom of the head to reduce string vibration. The new: More technology, a grommet-free design that allows the string and frame to touch for extra feedback. The result: great feel without string vibration. The More Control had an outstanding blend of power and control for all-courters who aren't afraid to take a big cut, testers said. And the racquet's superb touch at net will bring out your inner John McEnroe. If you struggle with the 800, try the 850: It's lighter, has a larger, more forgiving head, and is longer for extra leverage.
BOTTOM LINE: The perfect complement to any "A" player's game.

Prince MORE Control DB Tennis Racquet Review

The Prince More Control DB 850 OS is a 2003 Tennis Magazine Editors' Choice. Prince tuned both Control DB racquets for serious doubles play, designing for lightweight and a firm feel.

Though the racquet feels light, it hits with a solid shot response. Prince's numerous high tech features work well in this design to balance vibration damping with excellent feel.

Best of all, the 23mm beam and oversize head of the DB850 make it one of the more friendly and versatile control racquets available on the market today. Compared with the Control DB800 MP, we liked the DB850's larger sweet spot, greater spin, and more accommodating power.

For everyone else in the market for a light and comfortable control racquet, the DB850 OS is a good choice.
