Volkl DNX 8 Tennis Racquet Review
The Volkl DNX 8 is a midplus frame that is ideally suited to offensively-minded players. Offense begins with power. So does the Volkl DNX 8.

The Volkl DNX 8 puts generous power in the hands of intermediate level players while making the fewest requirements for skill or mechanical adjustment. That means it’s easier to hit powerful shots more of the time. And more of those powerful shots stay in the court.

In our play testing, the power advantage of the Volkl DNX 8 was most apparent with serves, returns and groundstrokes. It was especially impressive for serves. This racquet is an excellent choice for ambitious players looking to force a weak service return and take control of the point immediately.

Off the ground, the DNX 8 excels at creating openings and finishing points. Decent control and better than average feedback also help. Our play testers liked how the Volkl DNX 8 provided them with a good sense of how much to go for with the power.

This racquet's bias for feedback gives it a firm feel. Vibration was never an issue, though most play testers rated the DNX 8 as less comfortable than the damped feel of similar racquets from Babolat, Head, Prince, and Wilson.

The Volkl DNX 8 works well enough for advanced players, but there are other choices. The Prince O3 White is more stable. The Wilson nPro Open has more control. The Head Flexpoint Instinct is a little of both. The power advantage of the DNX 8 is less important to 4.5+ players, though the racquet is certainly refined enough to work capably for them.

The power advantage of the DNX 8 means a lot more to improving juniors and intermediates. For those players, power is the performance characteristic that has the greatest impact on results – if it doesn't come with too many other compromises. The Volkl DNX 8 gets it right. The way the DNX 8 does power makes it a stand out. It’s not just powerful. It has above average power that is easier-to-use and control.
