Head Metallix 2 Tennis Racquet
Tennis Magazine Review
SALES PITCH: With the smallest head size and heaviest weight, this model is the most control-oriented of all the Head Metallix racquets.
COMPARE TO: Head Liquidmetal 2
HOW IT TESTED: While it’s the least powerful of the Metallix line, the Metallix 2 still has plenty of pop. At just about 10 ounces the it’s fairly easy to swing, but the head heavy balance does give the racquet some substance. Not surprisingly playtesters liked how that added some juice to their ground strokes as well. But some also thought the frame played a little heavier than expected. And the sweet spot, while more than adequate, it isn’t limitless. So you need to have some strength and ability to make this frame work, which is what you’d expect out of a racquet meant for players with some skill. Those players that had no problems handling the weight really liked serving with the Metallix 2. They could put plenty of pace and direction on the ball. Reviews at net were also strong, so serve-and-volleyers may find a lot to like here. Like all Metallix racquets this one has Head Stabilizers (the wings on the side of the frame) to reduce shock and vibration and enhance comfort.
BOTTOM LINE: A nice option for serious club players and doubles specialists.
