T.Flash 290 Tennis Racquet Review
The
Tecnifibre TFlash 290 is a powerful midplus frame with a classic 'tweener racquet personality. It’s designed for intermediate and advanced players seeking superior power in a midplus head size.
On the court, this racquet feels light, stiff and powerful. The TFlash 290 swings easier than its middle weight specifications. It accelerates well for head speed and feels nimble at net. The shot response is firm and lively with a bias towards feedback rather than comfort. For accomplished players who consistently hit the sweetspot, the upside is a keen sense of what the ball is doing on the strings.
Advanced players liked the way the TFlash 290 helped them take command of points – or finish points – by pouncing on short balls. Some eastern-grip intermediates found it too easy to over-hit inside the baseline. Those with more spin-friendly grips were able to wail away.
Serve-and-volley intermediates liked the TFlash 290 best of all. In singles and doubles, players were able to hit strong serves and finish off weak returns with crisp volleys. The TFlash 290 is also an excellent choice for the bruising baseline style of a player like Raphael Nadal.
Like all of Tecnifibre frames, the TFlash 290 is meant for skilled players with above average ability. Similar to the Babolat Pure Drive with better feel and more muscle, the TFlash 290 supplies power with the expectation that the player will have the skills to control it. Best for 4.0+ players looking to move up to a more powerful ‘tweener.
