How
it tested: The first thing you’ll notice
about the [K]obra Team.FX is the new Quad Shaft—large
cutouts in the racquet’s throat. It’s designed to
evenly distribute the frame’s weight between four
shafts instead of the conventional two to make the
racquet more stable. Playtesters found a very quiet and
solid response from the racquet in addition to a nice
level of power and overall playability. You have to work
a little to put pace and spin on your shots, so you
won’t be punished if you decide to let loose on the
ball. And while control isn’t pinpoint, it’s far
from a problem. All-courters who move forward to finish
points at the net will like the relatively easy handling
of the racquet to go along with its stability. The main
drawback is that some playtesters said the frame was
almost too good at filtering out feedback, giving it a
slightly deadened feel.
Playtester
comments: “Plays like a Babolat Aero
racquet”; “Does what you want 95 percent of the
time”; “Stable on off-center hits”; “A little
too much pop to bang it out on the baseline all day.”
Bottom
line: An ideal racquet for all-court tournament
veterans or established juniors who don’t want a
heavy, advanced frame.
